There is also the option to stop off at Brantwood House and Café, then catch a later sailing back to Coniston. Brantwood offers a fascinating insight into the world of John Ruskin and the last 28 years of his life spent in the Lakes. Filled with many fine paintings, beautiful furniture and Ruskin’s personal treasures, the house retains the character of its famous resident.
A historic house, museum and vibrant centre for the arts, Ruskin’s former home has a wealth of things to see and do for the whole family. The Brantwood Café is situated in Brantwood’s former coach house the Terrace is a unique and friendly place to relax while you enjoy the breathtaking views over Coniston Water, from snow-dusted peaks to glorious summer days. Return times from Brantwood are 11.20, 12.20, 1.35, 2.30, 3.35 and 4.30
